How to use the Online Estimator

Welcome to our Online Estimator help page. Our artificial intelligent system is designed to simply provide you with a budget estimate guide to the cost of heating and or cooling your home or parts of your home.

To use the Estimator, simply follow the steps below.

We have included tips on choosing the correct ASPECT, and a guide to calculating the FLOOR AREA of your rooms.

Step 1:
Nominate what you require:

  • Cooling Only
  • Heating and Cooling
  • Gas Heating

Step 2:
Nominate if the rooms you have to heat and or cool are on 1, 2 or 3 levels

Step 3:
Select the room or rooms you want air conditioned by checking the box at the left of the room name.

Step 4:
Specify the floor area for each room. This is the floor area of each room in square meters. We have provided average room / area sizes as a guide but suggest you measure your room floor area and change the area in the on line estimator chart to match your actual room area for the most accurate estimate

How to measure the floor area of a room
All measurements should be in metres to give you a floor area of square metres.

Typical Bedroom: floor area 'A' equals length of '1' multiplied by length of '2'.

Typical Bedroom with Built In Zone: floor area equals area of 'A', (length of '1' multiplied by length of '2') plus area of 'B',(length of '3' multiplied by length of '4').

Typical Kitchen, Family Room: floor area equals area of 'A', (length of '1' multiplied by length of '2') plus area of 'B',(length of '3' multiplied by length of '4').

Step 5:
Select the aspect of the room from the drop down selection of either protected, average or exposed.

To help you select which aspect best suits your situation, use the following guide:

Use exposed if:
on top floor of home
insulated or not
north to west facing
high glass to floor ratio
strong afternoon sun
weatherboard, fibro or brick veneer construction
metal roof
no roof/ceiling insulation
little or no shelter

Use Average if:
ground or middle level of home
north, east or south west facing
some external shade
brick veneer or double brick construction
have ceiling batts
average sized windows with some internal or external shading

Use Protected if:
Lower or ground floor of home
Any south or south east aspect regardless of level
Shaded windows or well protected by trees, other homes / buildings hills etc.
Have ceiling batts and above conditions
Average to small windows

Step 6:
Once you have selected the room or rooms / areas you want heated or heated or cooled along with adjusting the floor area and changing aspect as required, click on calculate and your estimate will be provided. You may like to print the estimate out for future reference.

For large to very large homes
These homes or homes with lots of exposed aspects may require 2 or 3 systems to be installed.

If after you have completed the room chart and clicked on calculate our Online Estimator cannot match equipment to suit your home, divide you home up and do 2 or more estimates.

You could try doing one calculation for the top floor and another for the ground and or lower ground floor area.

You could also try doing just the bedrooms as one calculation and all of the others rooms as another calculation. Sometimes you may need to divide the home even further.
